Brave Vasalissa and Baba Yaga: storytelling and doll-making workshop for women

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJenni will retell ‘Brave Vasalissa and Baba Yaga’, the ancient Russian and Eastern European tale which was once a template for a real life initiation. The story is full of mystical imagery of the feminine: the phases of nature and of womanhood: crone, mother, maiden; as well as overcoming fears; integrating the shadow; dealing with one’s own light and power and learning the skills of home and hearth that can help to nourish the self and family.

In a fun, relaxed way, explore how the tale resonates within you, then make a doll to represent your inner wisdom or feminine intuition. Pre-cut cloth for an easy-to-make, small doll will be provided, along with needles, embroidery cotton, stuffing and craft materials eg. beads, cloth, ribbons, buttons, fabric and wool.
