Despite the extremely wet conditions and copious mud at this years Woodford Folk Festival, my partner Max Strong, aka Salty Pete the Pirate had a wonderful time working in the Children’s Festival this year. This year Max created a pirate school for kids. Each day a new topic was covered: from the pirate alphabet, pirate history, treasure maps, using a compass to pirate flags. Each ‘class’ began with some facts and background, then Salty Pete told a pirate story on the topic. Next, children with their parents got to participate in making a flag or a treasure map or in learning how to use a compass follow a treasure map and find some sweet treasure. Alas my camera’s battery died before I could capture all of the classes, but you can see more photo’s at my Flickr album.
